AORP What's New Rural Seat Belt Survey Results (March 2005 ) Road safety research has established that the effectiveness of seat belts in preventing death and serious injury to occupants of light-duty motor vehicle collisions ranges from 39% to 60%, depending on vehicle type and size and occupant seating position.
