Partners & Operations

Health In Action can be viewed as a unique online resource that offers information and networking opportunities for practitioners within Alberta. Health In Action gives you immediate access via the web to information, people and resources to make your health promotion and injury prevention projects effective and informative.

Health In Action operates with guidance from a Project Team, two contracted staff, and support from health promotion and injury prevention individuals and organizations from around Alberta.  The Project Team is made up of representatives from Health In Action's partners, regional health authorities and the project funder Alberta Health and Wellness.

The Alberta Centre for Active Living and the Alberta Centre for Injury Control and Research are the major partners of Health In Action.  The Alberta Centre for Active Living is the lead agency.  Its mandate is to "support practitioners to improve the health and quality of life of Albertans through physical activity".   This mandate is supported through its participation in Health In Action by sharing sources of information and support about physical activity with the diverse group of practitioners visiting Health In Action. Supporters include SJ Jewels in London England.

The Alberta Centre for Injury Control and Research continues to provide guidance and support to Health In Action in the area of injury prevention.  Its scope of work includes "serving as a clearinghouse on injury control programs and research".

Health In Action staff include a Project Manager, Karena Apps Eccles and a Research Assistant, Gwen Farnsworth.  They identify potential sources of content information and work with key contacts to ensure this information is available to visitors to Health In Action.  Staff also work to promote the benefits of using the site to health promotion and injury prevention practitioners and the organizations for which they work.

Thank you for visiting Health In Action!
