Prairieaction Foundation released its annual call for letters of intent for its CARE Grants Program. This program funds community-based organizations in Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan to do action-oriented research into solutions to violence and abuse. The deadline for letters of intent is March 20, 2008.

RBC After-School Grants Program accepting applications
The RBC After-School Grants Program is now accepting applications from organizations offering after-school programs that provide structured, supervised activities in an environment that focuses on safety, social skills and self-esteem. Other activities that programs should offer include computer instruction, sports, literacy tutoring, music and art lessons, nutrition guidance, and homework help. Provided by the RBC Foundation, the grants range between $25,000 and $40,000. The deadline for funding applications is April 28, 2008 and grant recipients will be advised by July 2008. Social Venture Partners Calgary is now accepting applications from registered charitable agency serving Calgary. SVP's 2008 grant will be awarded to a nonprofit organization whose services or programs engage at-risk children and/or youth through community based programs involving recreation, arts, education or mentoring. Agencies whose mandate fulfills this focus and who are interested in a long-term relationship with SVP are invited to submit a short online application form. The Program has two categories of grants. One is called general grants, which has no restriction regarding project implementation site(s) and the limit of the grant amount per project. The other is small-scale grants, targeting community-based grassroots activities implemented in Japan with simpler application procedures.

Alberta Health and Wellness established the Alberta Healthy School Community Wellness Fund to address issues of health and wellness among children and youth within Alberta school communities. The fund supports projects that promote healthy school communities and aim to improve the health and wellness of school-aged children and youth.
The next deadline for receiving Category A: Larger Grant applications is February 29th, 2008.

Women's Community Fund
The annual grants and contributions budget of the Women's Program is $15.3 million. By using funding priorities, SWC ensures that the WP resources are invested where the need is the greatest and where there is a clear potential to make a concrete and direct impact. This means that, while all proposals will receive due consideration, priority will be given to those that fall within the 2007-08 funding priorities.
The deadline to submit a proposal for funding under the Women's Community Fund is July 16, 2007.
Women's Health Matters
The database provides women and Health Practitioners with information about where to find women's health resources to support their health-care decision-making. The database contains descriptions of books, periodicals, audiovisual and multimedia materials as well as websites.
