Oyen Seniors hold disking every Tuesday evening. There are 3 lanes - meaning 6 teams of 4 players. On Wednesday, there are 2 lanes - meaning 6 teams of 4 players can play, they have three sets at 7:00 p.m., 8:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Two players supply and sell lunch each week. On Wednesdays evening, the same scenario, except the game is floor curling. Each player usually has two games. Later in the season, bonspiels are held.
Purpose - Entertainment, social, exercise and it helps pass the long winter evenings.
Success - It is very popular sport and many look forward to the evenings. One member of our club joined with three others from her former community (Esther, Alberta), they won 2nd place at the Three Hills Summer Games and continued on to Medicine Hat Canada Games and brought home the Gold. We are all proud and happy for the team. Our oldest player was 96 years old last year.
Why - Recreation for Seniors and any age that wishes to join us.
