South East Seniors

Purpose
The purpose of this program is to increase strength and endurance in seniors.

Activities
The activities of this program include working with 2 1/2 lb. ankle weights and 1-5 lb. dumbbells, depending on individual strength. Workout includes a warm up, exercises with weights, exercises without weights and a cool-down.

Success
The success of this program include:
- more overall strength
- more strength in the arms
- ability to climb stairs when unable to do this before
- an enjoyable atmosphere
- a combination of social and physical benefits.

Reason
The program is successful because it has been developed by "Fit for Your Life", a recognized and excellent program which has been well researched and includes an excellent training manual. Because we do all exercises from a sitting position, there is no chance of major injury. As well, we use a slow progression of weights and duration of exercises to ensure safety.
