The SBS Prevention Education Resource Guide was developed to educate professionals and volunteers and to help them educate others about SBS and its prevention through the provision of PowerPoint presentations and supporting materials, including suggested narrative, activities and handouts. The Guide includes a Professional Deveopment Session that you can use to:
-
Learn about SBS prevention for your own education.
-
Incorporate SBS prevention into the work that you already do with students, clients or peers.
-
Prepare yourself to deliver education sessions to the primary target groups.
-
Educate other professionals and partners.
This Guide also includes education sessions for the primary target groups of parents and expectant parents, youth, and other caregivers. These sessions include interactive components and cover:
-
why babies cry
-
how to soothe a crying baby
-
what SBS is, how it happens, and why you must not shake a baby
